My Limited History
February 22, 2025If i'm going to start a page about things i've collected, i might as well start it with something where i can definitively say that it's journey has ended, which is something i can't say for pretty much any other thing i collect. (Outside of maybe Xbox 360 hard drives, but that's a story for another day.)
It started around 2018, when i had the desire to pick up a few limiteds and trade my way to glory. Unfortunately, because i was a 12 year old that had no idea what he was doing, i got hardly any mileage from my early efforts. I distinctly remember trying to trade off an 8-bit sword for a couple months for one of the eggs from the older Egg Hunts and being really sad after doing it knowing that i couldn't use the gear anymore. Ironically, this small stinging feeling would hit me every time i traded something away with the exception of one moment VERY far down the line.
However, 2018 would also mark what is probably the most costly and embarassing collecting failure of my entire life. One day, i just so happened to catch the Playful Vampire face while it was still in stock for 75 Robux. Keep in mind that this was the era of Builders Club, where you got paid a certain amount of Robux every day for being a part of the club, and i was an OBC member, which granted me 60 Robux per day. So, i wasn't really that bummed out at the time when i looked at the page and found myself exactly 1 Robux short at 74. At the time i thought to myself that it wasn't a big deal because i didn't even like the look of the face in the first place...
...and then that face would reach a peak value of 147,000 Robux in Early 2026.
In other words, i was 1p away from getting something worth almost 1,500 Pounds.
Any sane person would be so demoralised by this that they wouldn't even touch trading again. But not me. I now had a goal, which was to claw back all of the value that i had lost from not being able to buy the Playful Vampire. It was going to be an extremely long journey, and it was probably going to take me years to figure out how to trade well enough to equal it's value for even a brief moment, but i was going to do it SOLELY out of spite.
About a year later, we'd have our first ever surviving report of what my inventory looked like at the time. On June 19th 2019, my inventory consisted of Seranok's Golden Chalice, the ROBLOX World Tour Hot Air Balloon, the Hyperlaser Gun, the Exploding Lab Table, the ROBLOX Classic Brigand's Sword, the 2010 Fireworks and the PI RAIG Table. If you couldn't tell, i had quite a thing for Limited Gears, which is ironic because of how much they would end up going for in the future. At the time they were only worth 5,700 Robux, but nowadays they'd be worth 42,326. Truly different times.
This is what my inventory would look like for a while. Granted, there were some small changes such as trading my Hyperlaser for a Got Milk visor and my World Tour Balloon for a World Tour Guitar and a Tri-Laser 333, but i was still hard into collecting gears at this time, so let's skip ahead to when things got a little more interesting.
On February 2nd, 2020, i decided to shift up my inventory a little bit. My new goal was to have both a small collection of limited gears to keep in my back pocket on top of having one signature magnum opus in my inventory that i could point towards and really call my own. The first of these was a hat called the New Years Doge. Out of all of the old Doge hats, the New Years Doge was always my favourite due to the party popper that extended out of the dog's mouth. It had a playful vibe that none of the other Doge hats had. I would rock this style until March 24th, which is when i would get a hat that would end up being something very special.
You see, Roblox has a couple of limited Hat sets that are considered to be reserved specifically for the elites, only ever worn by multi-millionaires that either have the wealth to casually buy one or just so happened to stumble into one when they were younger. Some of the lower end hats in this illusive category are the Valkyrie Helm, the Sparkle Time Fedora and the Clockwork hats. However, amidst all of these are two hats that feel redundant to even utter the name of. Those being the Dominus and the Domino Crown. And as it just so happens, i was about to pick up a hat in the series of the latter half, that being the Dice Crown.
The Dice Crown was fairly unknown around the time that i got it, being valued at only 5,939 Robux, but considering how low the existing stock is for the hat on top of the unique mesh it has compared to the majority of the other Domino Crowns, nowadays it has a value of around 35,000 Robux. This is probably one of my personal favourites that i got from my non permanent collection.
I would only end up rocking this look for a few months however, and a few months later i decided to split it into 4 different hats, those being the Dark Spellbook of the Forgotten, the Crimsonwrath, the Epic Smiley and the Cool Story Air Conditioner. What's funny about this set of items is that throughout my inventory's history, there are only two brief periods where i would have had more RAP than i did at the very end of my journey if i stopped and didn't change my inventory a single bit, and this is one of them. At the time, these 4 items would have been valued at 11,723 Robux.
Nowadays though? 136,830.
To be fair though, i don't think anyone was expecting the Spellbook to nearly be worth 100K in the future.
From there, however, is probably the most important trade i ever did. Granted, this ended up being an awful trade if you look at the values today, but in terms of the course this set me on, this trade was the most important i had ever done. On November 12th, 2020, I decided that i wanted to take an extended break from Roblox around this time, but just before i left i decided to combine all of my limiteds into a single hat. After ruminating on what i wanted it to be, i settled on trading my entire limited inventory for a Golden Top Hat of Bling Bling.
At the time, the hat was worth 5,111 Robux, and i was perfectly content with ending my trading journey there, especially considering that the hat's value stayed fairly stable. With that, i packed my bags and took an extended Roblox break.
During my absence, however, the timeline would take an extra twist. At the turn of 2021, dozens of classic Limiteds would end up spiking in price to an unprecedented degree. To put it into perspective, this is around the time that the Shaggy (which used to be the most common limited in history until the Goldrow was made into a Limited) went from 300 Robux in value to 1,200. This video from SharkBlox at the time puts the price spike into perspective.
When i came back, i was welcomed by a huge surprise. The Golden Top Hat had spiked up in value from 5,000 all the way up to 20,000. When i found out about the increased value, i made a solemn vow to not only make the Golden Top Hat my main hat to represent how lucky i was in this moment but also to never sell or trade it under any circumstance. As you can probably tell, this is one of the few promises i made myself around the time that i actually ended up sticking to, so well done past me for not breaking your own rules.
Many years would pass with more of the same. My overall Value was hovering around the 20K and the 30K mark due to me buying up hats without even thinking about trading them due to me already being content with what i had. But that would all change in Early 2024.
On March 7th, 2024, Roblox would release a new entry into the Clockwork's Headphones series. This new entry would not only have a unique glossy finish to them that would shine depending on the lighting of the game you were in, but it would also be in a shade of gold that looked pretty bad when paired with most avatars... but fit in perfectly with Junichiro. To get it, you needed to purchase around $100 of Robux (which WASN'T adjusted properly in the UK, meaning i had to pay the equivalent of $120 for it) within the next two months. I ended up biting the bullet for a few reasons. It was my payday at the time, the hat perfectly matched Junichiro without clipping through the top hat, it had a glossy finish, it was a hat that was a part of that "hat series reserved for the elites" club i was talking about earlier and it was also going to go completely offsale instead of becoming a limited, which is a type of item i've always been FAR more fascinated by.
After buying the Golden Clockworks and putting them on for the first time, it honestly felt like my avatar was complete. I had the Golden Top Hat, i had a pair of Golden Clockworks, i even had the torso of The Golden Robloxian from that one toy code bundle. At this point i was once again perfectly content with keeping my avatar like this for the rest of time.
But Roblox had one more trick up their sleeve.
On November 15th, without any warning, Roblox decided to turn the Golden Clockworks into a limited. Naturally, considering that everyone bought these expecting them to stay offsale forever similar to the Workclocks, everyone started panicking by trying to quickly sell them so they could make a quick buck.
I, however, had a different idea. And it's probably the smartest trading move i've ever done.
You see, i did end up selling the Golden Clockworks, but i kept my eyes peeled for something to replace it. After searching for a few minutes, i ended up landing on another limited simply called "Golden Headphones". For a bit of history, this hat was released in 2010, and the gimmick was almost the exact same as the Golden Clockworks, but done on a much older lighting engine. It was sold as a regular hat for nearly 10,000 Robux until 2013 where it was mysteriously taken off sale. It was then turned into a limited in 2014 where it's price would briefly start to increase. However, a few months later a lighting change made when converting Roblox to a new physics model would cause it's price to tank.
At the time i had a hunch that the price for them would spike up due to the mass exodus people were making away from the Golden Clockworks on top of their extremely limited stock with only 271 still surviving compared to the monstrous 131,000 copies of the Golden Clockworks. As it turns out, this assumption was 100% correct, as 1 year later the value of the Golden Clockworks would end up dipping from 10,000 RAP to 7,000. Meanwhile, the regular Golden Headphones would spike up from 7,000 to an average of 22,000 and a peak of 50,000. This was the only hat that didn't sting to get rid of.
The most ironic part about that is that the Golden Headphones are now more valuable than the Golden Top Hat. Every time you look at Junichiro from this point onwards, always remember that his headphones are more expensive than his hat.
And with all of that, we move onto the present day. I picked up a few more low stock hats along the way with the money that i spent to get the Golden Clockworks, which ended up doubling the RAP i would have had without them, but those are largely inconsequential for the story. Now i'm retired from Roblox and the only thing i brought with me after ditching the platform for good was Junichiro. The next time you look at him, always remember that he only exists in the way he does now because of two timeline shifting decisions that i made. One of them made me take up the persona of a man that represented all that glitters and the other only added to the pile of gold.
But before we wrap up, we might as well add one last cherry on top. Do you remember when i missed out on getting the Playful Vampire by 1 Robux? Well, even though i said that the item's peak RAP was around 147,000... that wouldn't end up lasting. After Roblox announced that they would be converting every Classic Face into a Dynamic Head, the value of every Limited Classic Face ended up dipping to absurd degrees, and one of the faces that were hit the hardest was the Playful Vampire. Infact, it was hit so hard that for a brief moment, my inventory ended up overtaking the value of the Playful Vampire.
Yep, i finally did it. And it only took 8 years after i failed to buy it. Hell, i did that before the update even released. It's probably going to dip even more.
THAT'S RIGHT YOU CHEEKY BITCH, I GOT THE LAST LAUGH!

Here's a picture of my inventory by the end of all of this. It's probably never going to change considering that i'm completely done with the platform.
