Lando Won The WDC
December 7, 2025And to be completely honest, it didn't sting as much as i thought it would. I'm obviously someone who had been rooting for both Verstappen and Piastri the whole year, but in a way, i'm kinda glad that Lando won because it's taught me something about myself that i probably wouldn't have realised had one of the other two won.
For me, and i think a lot of us, i've had a lightbulb moment of "You're really hating this far more than it SHOULD be hated." that i felt was a long time coming. At the end of the day, you're not hating a man who's putting millions of lives at risk and you're hot hating someone who kicks puppies for fun. You're hating a guy who may be a brat, but ultimately just wanted to go fast, and got his dream.
Looking back at the 2021 season of Formula 1, which i personally consider to be the best due to how much was at stake, i was obviously over the moon when Verstappen won the title, but because of the factors at play it made me never consider the person he was actually fighting. I've always hated Hamilton due to not only how he screwed over Alonso, but also due to how unreasonably lucky he's always been, and before the race that i just saw unfold live i would have been one of those people who flaunted Max's 2021 title until the cows came home. However, reflecting on it, considering how little the Norris title stung, i feel like the same thing would have happened if Lewis won the title in 2021.
It's like i said before, hating a driver to the point of placing a thousand curses on their bloodline really isn't worth it. They're all just big guys that want to go fast. A driver's only worth hating if they ACTUALLY do something fucked up, and for me the only two that fit that category are Nelson Piquet and Nikita Mazepin. Although depending on the mood you catch me in, i may throw Johnny Herbert and Jos Verstappen in there as well.

So yeah, congratulations to Norris, and may the hype train for 2026 begin!
Also, it's gonna feel a little weird without the Renault Engines or Sauber. They still left a very special legacy though.
